. dan lothian following the day's events. how does it begin, where does it go, how does it end? >> reporter: a very long day. the president will start off his day at the white house, waking up, working out in the private gym, having presidential daily briefing on national security issues and other issues as well. and sit down for breakfast with the family, and then around 8:45, they will head across the street to st. john's episcopal church, a church known as the president's church. and often -- the first family attended service there. a couple hours later, they will head up to the capitol for the swearing in ceremony where the president and vice president will take part in the swearing in. getting the oath there. this is a public ceremony, of course, privately yesterday was when the vice president and president had the oath administered and then later in the afternoon, the president, first lady, will take part in the inaugural parade and then head to the reviewing stand behind me, where they will watch that parade as well. a lot of things for the president on the docket today,

on lance's team. i don't buy for a minute if you read tyler hamilton and dan quayle's book "the secret race," maybe at that level, where -- the level meaning tyler was a mountain climber and in 1999 and 2000 it was three guys who were on this sophisticated doping program, but even frankie and i who saw the usada report and read that book, it was new to us. it was completely new to us. 2000 was the turning point. 2001 on if you wanted to be on lance armstrong's winning tour team, then i would say, yeah, you had to do what it takes. >> he was the co-owner. >> he was the co-owner of the team, he made the decision who was fired -- who was fired and how much they got paid. for him to say he wasn't, when i say he was cherry picking, last night he was truthful with some things, and with other things he just wasn't truthful. >> but, betsy, basically lance armstrong was setting conditions such that the only way you could compete successfully was to dope. >> the only way to win. the only way to win was to dope. you could compete, but lance didn't want you did -- you wouldn't win. >> right

. they say their second amendment rights are under attack. dan lothian following all of those developments for us this morning. good morning. >> good morning, soledad. the white house sees this package that the president will be rolling out, as a comprehensive way to try to curb gun violence, the president will be doing something we've seen in the past. when he is trying to get something through congress, he involves the public. when he makes the announcement later on this morning, he will be surrounded by young kids. these are kids who wrote intimate letters to the president after the connecticut shootings. that in itself is also under attack. getting criticism that the president is using kids as props as he pushes this policy. that, though, will be the back drop as the president lays out what sources say will be the comprehensive package, focused on an assault weapons ban and pressing for a ban on high-capacity magazines and this is the new part, with more than 10 rounds. this should impact gunmen who won't be able to fire off as many rounds as quickly as we've seen in some
